As of mid-morning Friday 29 July, the strike action by ASLEF train drivers for Saturday 30 July remains on, affecting 8 rail companies. Southern Rail is not one of the eight, so there is an expectation Southern services will run as normal, with the possibility of some cancellations due to a knock-on effect from striking companies.
So - as things currently stand - the Riddlesdown to Coulsdon walk goes ahead.

Victoria to East Grinstead via East Croydon and Riddlesdown appears to running normally 2 trains per hour. Reigate to Victoria via Coulsdon South also OK. A shuttle service from Tattenham Corner via Coulsdon Town is also running to Purley with onward connections to East Croydon and Victoria.
If needed, the number 60 bus will also take you from Coulsdon all the way to Streatham, via Purley and Croydon
#7 walkers, including 2 who opted for a shorter version. It was a very nice, relaxing and enjoyable day and we stopped several times along the route to enjoy the views. At the end of the walk, 3 of us relaxed on the outdoor terrace of Poppy's cafe overlooking the memorial park. One to remember as it's a greats setting for tea, serves home made cakes and stays open late.
