Sunday Walk: Saunderton Circular via Bledlow

11.7 miles, 18.3 km. Toughness: 6 /10 A favourite Chilterns walk. There are many fine views out over the valley and plain. Largely gentle with one or two steep bits.

Trains: Get the 10:05 Aylesbury train from Marylebone arriving Saunderton 10:54. Trains back at xx:51 from platform 2 (If you just miss it, you could get the xx:54 from Platform 1 back up the line to Princes Risborough and change there for London).

Lunch: Bring a picnic lunch - suggested stopping place, Bledlow's Lyde Garden. The entrance is near the church. (The usual stop, the Lions of Bledlow doesn’t reopen till the 24th.)

Later, the Golden Cross 01494 565974 would normally be handy for Saunderton station. It’s on the main road, just past the station turn-in. It has a garden. But…..they’ve not been answering their phone. You could try the earlier Boot 01494 481499.

Directions: available here or in Book 2.

Covid Rules as at top of page but here’s some again.

Divide into groups of six or less. And stay in them.

Keep spaced out

If you cant avoid touching stiles or gates, remember to sanitise your hands. And avoid bunching up.

Please also book for the walk in advance, if you can, using Mike's www.lwug.co.uk site.  If you are unable or unwilling to book in this way, please bring a small piece of paper with your name and email address clearly written on it. I will put these in an envelope and only access them if a Covid case is reported after the walk which requires contact tracking.  To report a Covid case after the walk, use the dedicated Covid email address on the lwug site.   T=2.2

N=5 on a w=sunny day. 2 had decided to do the walk in reverse so we didnt have to worry about splitting ourselves up. We crossed again halfway round and traded insults.
The Lions in Bledlow was shut for filming (security variously told us it was a Hollywood blockbuster and a TV series). I asked if they needed anyome to sit in the background and drink beer but no. That job was taken. And Lyde Garden was chocka so we made do with a bench and a bit of verge. Later on the Boot was open but we didn't stop. We made it back to Saunderton with seconds to spare. In fact the driver waited when he saw us. Quite a tough walk for a geezer 4 months out of practice.

Welcome back Mr Tiger (or should that be "M"?), I've missed your walk reports.
