Meet: 18:00 just outside London Blackfriars (Southside).....Late starters can find us at Southwark Brewing Company (46 Druid St SE1 2EZ) between 18:45 and 19:00....
Difficulty: Easy, with plenty of hydration stops
End: From almost any point you can easily return to London Bridge (or South Bermondsey)
On a few occasions over the years, we have explored the eastern end of the Bermondsey Beer Mile following walks that coincided with Scandanavian Christmas Markets in Rotherhithe and we always seem to cover more or less the same ground....So, I thought a good winter's evening exercise would be an exploration of the western end of the Beer Mile, starting from the London Bridge side.
Let's see how far we can get!

I am here in the Vegan Rastuarant, Bermondsey. Food is excellent
For those not familiar with Blackfriars mainline Station, it straddles the Thames and we are meeting on the south side of the river. If you arrive at Blackfriars Tube Station you will need to allow 5-10 mins to exit the station, cross Blackfriars Bridge and then walk a couple of minutes along the river.
Cheers for the clarification, John! I’ll see you later.
I should add there are 2 exits on the South side -- meet on east side where you can see the Founder's arms.
10 assembled at the correct exit on the correct side of the river at Blackfriars and set off on a pleasant amble along the riverside on a w=mild-evening. At Tower Bridge we cut inland and had our first hydration stop at the Southwark Brewing Company where many shared flights of their offerings. We had then planned to visit a cidery -- but sadly it was closed -- so we visited another beer venue next door which was well decorated with loads of barrels (called the Barrel Project) -- possible venues came fast and furious at this point with almost an overabundance of options. Making some tough decisions, our next port of call was Anspach & Hobday where we bumped into a local, making for an even dozen (n=12). By this time, people started getting hungry, so we tried to find a venue with some food options -- but failed to find anything suitable --so we opted for Bianca Road and some take out from a nearby kebab shop recommended by our local. Many called it a night after Bianca Road, but a group 5 stopped in the Craft Beer Junction for a final night cap -- including a peanut butter and jelly beer....yum....A fun night out! Another installment will be required to complete the tour....
