Thank you Arthur, much appreciate your effort in putting together this personalised travel plan for each potential strike busting Wednesday walker.
thanks ad but how about changing it to Thursday ? so we could all go..
For details of the duration of the tube strike (should it go ahead), you may wish to look here
Well done for all the train info. Will travel up from Clapham Junction. Plenty of options for most and an opportunity to avoid the ghastly tube network and enjoy the air con trains on the Overground.
In may be worth factoring in extra travel time, bearing in mind that commuters who normally use the underground also head for train and London Overground services when the underground is not in service.
Wednesday may not provide any tube service http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-33785330
Strikes now off....
Did SWC's finest bring pressure to bear on the RMT?
intending to go now strike is off, looks like it's fairly settled weather for Herts this Wed pm
any1 else going ?
In defence of the tube, the new air-conditioned trains introduced on the subsurface lines (Metropolitan, Hammersmith & City, District, and Circle) are excellent. The worst trains are the Class 376 "Electrostar" trains on Southeastern, which are completely airless in hot weather. (From the Saturday Walkers Train Enthusiasts Club)
n=8 on this walk with w=rain_before_lunch_but_warm_and_sunny_all_afternoon.
One walker completed the full walk via the Bridgewater Monument, the rest took the short cut to the Bridgewater Arms in Little Gaddesden (because of the persistent rain).
One walker caught the bus outside the pub (not enough waterproof togs)n and the rest met up for the afternoon section with stunning scenery in Golden Valley, followed by Frisden Beeches and the delightful descent back to Berkhamsted.
Train service had gone a little pear shaped due to flooding elsewhere, but most jumped on a train that pulled in as they arrived at the station.
I'll try to get this written up in the near future.
